Our XTB review
Overview
XTB started in Poland in 2002 as X-Trade Brokers and adopted the shorter XTB name in 2004. It has since grown into one of Europe's largest listed retail brokers, with shares traded on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (ticker XTB). Being a public company means XTB publishes financial results regularly, which adds a layer of transparency that private brokers do not have. Its range combines leveraged CFDs on forex, indices, commodities and crypto with real (non-CFD) stocks and ETFs. ForexBrokers.com counts more than 10,500 tradeable symbols, including 71 currency pairs, about 7,900 stocks and about 2,400 ETFs.
A key feature of XTB is its in-house technology. Years ago it dropped MetaTrader and now runs all trading through its proprietary xStation 5 platform on web, desktop and mobile.
Regulation and safety
XTB serves clients through several regulated companies. The Polish parent, XTB S.A., is supervised by the KNF (Polish Financial Supervision Authority) and passports its services across the EU, with local branches overseen in markets such as Germany, Spain and France. XTB Limited in the UK is authorised by the FCA, and another XTB Limited operates under CySEC in Cyprus. Outside Europe, XTB MENA Limited is regulated by the DFSA in Dubai and XTB International Limited by the FSC in Belize. Review sites also list licences from the FSCA in South Africa, the FSA in Seychelles, and regulators in Chile and Indonesia. Your entity depends on where you live, and so do your leverage limits and investor-compensation cover. UK clients can check XTB on the FCA register.
XTB has faced several regulatory problems. Daytrading.com reports that Polish authorities penalised the firm (about USD 2.2 million) over passing execution losses to clients in 2014–2015. It also reports a PLN 20 million (about USD 5.5 million) KNF fine dated 13 April 2026 over MiFID II breaches, which XTB plans to appeal and which was not final at the time of reporting. Daytrading.com further notes that onboarding of new clients in Brazil was halted. These issues do not involve client funds being lost, but they are relevant to the firm's governance record.
Fees and costs
XTB's standard account is spread-only: there is no commission on FX CFDs. ForexBrokers.com reports an average EUR/USD spread of about 1.06 pips in Q2 2026 for trades up to 15 lots, rising to about 1.29 pips above that size, with minimum spreads around 0.7–0.8 pips depending on the entity. XTB has no raw-spread or volume-discount account, so very active traders will not see their costs fall as volume grows.
Other charges to know: an inactivity fee of EUR 10 a month after more than a year without trading and no deposit in the previous 90 days; withdrawal fees on small amounts (EUR 10 under EUR 100 at the EU entity, according to ForexBrokers.com); and a 0.5% currency conversion fee on real stocks and ETFs priced in a non-base currency. Overnight swaps apply to leveraged CFD positions.

Accounts and products
There is no minimum deposit, which makes XTB easy to try. Retail clients in the EU and UK are limited to 1:30 leverage on major FX pairs. Through the Belize entity, and for qualifying professional clients, leverage goes up to 1:500. A swap-free Islamic account is available in eligible regions. ForexBrokers.com notes that the demo account is accessed after registering through the app, and daytrading.com says demo accounts expire after four weeks. Account base currencies include EUR, USD and GBP, plus HUF in some cases.
Beyond CFDs, many European clients can buy real shares and ETFs, and some can use automated investment plans. Around 46 cryptocurrencies can be held directly in some regions, with others offered as CFDs. XTB does not accept US residents and is not registered with the CFTC or NFA.
Platforms and tools
xStation 5 is the centre of the XTB experience. It is a modern, modular platform with 90-plus indicators, a stock screener, an economic calendar, sentiment indicators and drag-to-modify orders on charts. The mobile app is also highly rated by reviewers. The trade-offs are clear: no MetaTrader 4 or 5, no cTrader, no API or algorithmic trading, and no copy-trading service. XTB uses TradingView charting inside xStation, but you cannot link an XTB account to TradingView itself. Research and education are strong, with in-house market analysis and video content.
Deposits and withdrawals
XTB accepts bank transfers, debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro), and e-wallets such as PayPal, Skrill and Neteller, depending on country. According to daytrading.com, PayPal is not offered to non-EU residents. Apple Pay, Google Pay and crypto transfers are not supported. Withdrawals are generally free above minimum thresholds, but small withdrawals can trigger a fixed fee, so it is worth checking your entity's fee table.
Who it suits
XTB fits beginner and intermediate traders who want an all-in-one, well-designed proprietary platform, no minimum deposit, and both CFDs and real stocks under European regulation. It is less suited to MetaTrader users, algorithmic traders, scalpers who need raw spreads, and people who want copy trading.
Verdict
XTB is a well-capitalised, publicly listed European broker with an excellent in-house platform and a broad product range. Its FX pricing is average and it lacks third-party platforms. The 2026 KNF penalty, which is under appeal, along with earlier enforcement in Poland, slightly weakens its reputation. For most retail traders in Europe and the UK it remains a solid choice. See the official XTB website for current conditions.
