Our Pepperstone review
Overview
Pepperstone was founded in Melbourne in 2010 and still has its head office on Collins Street in the city's financial district. The parent company, Pepperstone Group Limited, has grown from a niche Australian forex specialist into a global CFD provider with nine licensed entities. As of March 2026 it reported more than 900,000 traders, monthly trading volume above AUD 947 billion and more than AUD 133 million withdrawn by clients each month. It is also the global trading partner of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One team.
Pepperstone has also invested in security credentials, stating that it holds ISO and SOC 2 certifications and uses 256-bit encryption, and its mobile apps carry a large volume of user reviews on both major app stores. Leadership is headed by Group CEO Tamas Szabo.
The broker's reputation rests on three things: competitive raw pricing, a wide choice of third-party platforms and strong regulatory coverage across several continents.
Regulation and safety
Pepperstone holds licences from a long list of regulators. Based on the company's own disclosures and independent reviews, these include:
- ASIC (Australia) – Pepperstone Group Limited, AFSL 414530
- FCA (UK) – reference 684312
- CySEC (Cyprus) – Pepperstone EU Limited, licence 388/20
- BaFin (Germany) – reference 91279
- DFSA (Dubai) – reference F004356
- CMA (Kenya) – licence 128
- Securities Commission of The Bahamas – Pepperstone Markets Limited, SIA-F217
The UAE Securities and Commodities Authority is also named among its regulators, and its crypto arm is registered with AUSTRAC. Retail client money is held in segregated accounts with tier-one banks, retail clients receive negative balance protection, and eligible clients may be covered by regional investor compensation schemes up to the applicable limits. Some protections differ by entity: reviewers note that the Bahamas entity's professional clients do not receive negative balance protection, and Australia has no investor compensation scheme. In the sources reviewed for this article we did not find any recent regulatory fines. Pepperstone does not accept clients from the United States.
Fees and spreads
There are two main pricing models. The Standard account is commission-free with all costs built into the spread; independent testing puts the average EUR/USD spread around 1.1 pips. The Razor account offers raw spreads from 0.0 pips, with EUR/USD averaging about 0.1 pips, plus a commission:
- MetaTrader 4/5: $3.50 per lot per side ($7 round turn)
- cTrader: $3 per lot per side ($6 round turn)
That makes the all-in Razor cost on EUR/USD roughly 0.7–0.8 pips, among the more competitive levels in the market. High-volume clients can join the Active Trader programme for rebates. Other costs include overnight swaps and, on some methods, bank wire or crypto withdrawal fees.
| Key figure | Pepperstone |
|---|---|
| Minimum deposit | No required minimum |
| Standard EUR/USD spread (avg.) | About 1.1 pips |
| Razor commission | $3.50/side (MetaTrader), $3/side (cTrader) |
| Retail leverage | 1:30 (UK, EU, Australia, Dubai); up to 1:400 (Kenya); 1:200 (Bahamas) |
| Professional leverage | Up to 1:500 (Bahamas) |
Accounts and markets
The account structure is straightforward: Standard and Razor, each available in a swap-free Islamic version where permitted, plus Professional status for eligible traders and the Active Trader programme. Demo accounts are available, although MetaTrader demos expire after a set period unless extended.
Leverage depends on the entity. Retail traders under ASIC, FCA, CySEC, BaFin and DFSA are capped at 1:30 on major forex pairs. The Kenyan entity allows up to 1:400, while the Bahamas entity offers up to 1:200 for retail and 1:500 for professional clients.
Independent reviewers count around 2,600 tradeable symbols, including roughly 65 currency pairs, indices, commodities, share CFDs, ETFs and crypto CFDs. Pepperstone also offers more than 100 US shares around the clock. Note that crypto CFDs are not available to UK retail clients, and all share trading is CFD-based rather than real ownership.
Platforms and tools
Pepperstone supports five platforms: its own web and mobile platform, MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader and TradingView. This breadth is a major draw, letting traders keep the same account conditions while switching between MT-based Expert Advisors, cTrader algorithms and TradingView charting.
Copy trading is available through CopyTrading by Pepperstone (powered by Pelican), alongside cTrader Copy and Signal Start depending on region. Weaker points flagged by reviewers include limited charting on the mobile app, no structured education courses, and no options or exchange-traded futures.
Deposits and withdrawals
Pepperstone offers a wide choice of funding methods, though availability depends on where you live. Options include bank wire, debit and credit cards, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and regional methods such as POLi, BPAY, PayID, UnionPay and M-Pesa, with crypto funding on some entities. There is no required minimum deposit. Most card and e-wallet withdrawals are free, while international bank wires may attract a fee.
Who it suits
Pepperstone is a strong choice for active forex and CFD traders who want low raw pricing, tier-one regulation and the freedom to choose between MetaTrader, cTrader and TradingView. It is also a reasonable option for intermediate traders who want copy trading built in. Because there is no required minimum deposit, newer traders can start small on the Standard account, but they should remember that leveraged CFDs are high risk and that most retail accounts lose money. Beginners looking for structured courses, and investors who want real shares, options or futures, may find better fits elsewhere.
Verdict
Pepperstone combines wide regulatory coverage, competitive Razor pricing and one of the broadest platform line-ups in retail trading. Its main limitations are a CFD-only product range and modest education. For most cost-focused traders it remains one of the more trustworthy options available. Full details are on the official Pepperstone website.
