Our RoboForex review
Overview
RoboForex is a multi-asset CFD and forex broker that has been operating since 2009. Today the brand's client business runs through a single legal entity, RoboForex Ltd, which is registered in Belize City and supervised by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) of Belize. The company advertises access to more than 12,000 instruments, although most of that figure comes from the stock and ETF universe available on its in-house R StocksTrader platform; the MetaTrader accounts carry a much narrower list of roughly one hundred forex, metals, index and commodity CFDs.
The company says it has won more than 40 industry awards since launch, a claim made on its own corporate profile, and it lists five in-house and third-party trading platforms. The broker's appeal rests on very low entry requirements, a choice of commission-based and spread-only accounts, high leverage and an established copy-trading service. Its weak point is the regulatory framework, which is offshore only. You can find the company's own disclosures on the RoboForex regulation page.
Regulation and safety
RoboForex Ltd holds a licence from the FSC Belize under the Securities Industry Act 2021. On its regulation page the company cites registration/licence number 9759600. Some older third-party reviews quote a different number, 000138/32, which predates the 2021 Act, so check the current number directly with the FSC. Belize is generally treated as a light-touch, offshore jurisdiction. It offers none of the leverage caps, negative-balance rules or statutory compensation schemes that apply under EU or UK regulators.
As an extra layer, RoboForex Ltd is a category "A" member of the Financial Commission, an independent dispute-resolution body. Its compensation fund covers up to EUR 20,000 per case if a member refuses to honour a ruling. This is an industry arrangement rather than a government guarantee.
There are also some negatives to weigh:
- In March 2024 Ukraine's National Securities and Stock Market Commission published a warning, relayed through the IOSCO I-SCAN network, listing RoboForex as an unlicensed entity offering financial services in Ukraine.
- The company states that it does not target EU, EEA or UK residents.
- Clients from the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus, Iran and several other countries are not accepted.
Fees and costs
RoboForex runs two pricing models. Pro and ProCent are spread-only accounts with floating spreads from about 1.3 pips. One third-party comparison puts the average EUR/USD spread on these accounts at roughly 1.4 pips. Prime and ECN accounts start from 0.0 pips and charge a commission instead. Prime is the cheapest, which reviewers equate to about USD 1 per lot per side (roughly USD 9 per USD 1 million traded). ECN costs more per lot.
| Account | Min. deposit | Spread from | Commission | Max leverage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pro / ProCent | $10 | 1.3 pips | None | Up to 1:2000 |
| ECN | $10 | 0.0 pips | Per lot (higher than Prime) | Up to 1:500 |
| Prime | $10 | 0.0 pips | ~$1 per lot per side | Up to 1:300 |
| R StocksTrader | $100 | From $0.01 on stocks | Varies by asset | Lower, asset-dependent |
Watch the payment costs as well. Withdrawals are free of RoboForex charges on selected Tuesdays each month. On other days, reviewers report fees of up to around 2.6% depending on the method. Swaps and currency-conversion charges also apply.
Account types and products
The account line-up targets different groups of traders:
- ProCent is a cent account. Balances are shown in US cents, which makes it practical for testing an expert advisor with real but tiny position sizes.
- Pro is the standard no-commission account.
- ECN and Prime are aimed at active traders who prefer raw pricing. Prime has a high stop-out level, so beginners should avoid running thin margins on it.
- R StocksTrader opens access to thousands of US and European shares and ETFs, plus forex and other CFDs.
Accounts can be held in USD or EUR, and RoboForex also offers a gold-denominated base currency. Third-party reviews note that swap-free conditions are available on Pro, ProCent and R StocksTrader.
Platforms and tools
Traders can choose MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, the MT4 MultiTerminal for managing several accounts, and the proprietary R StocksTrader, R WebTrader and R MobileTrader apps. FXEmpire also notes TradingView charting within the platform line-up.
The company's copy-trading service lets investors follow strategy providers on MT4, MT5 and R StocksTrader. Providers set their own performance fees of between 0% and 50%. Demo accounts are free.
FXEmpire's testing measured average execution above 150 milliseconds, which may not suit scalpers. The broker does not offer guaranteed stop-losses or API trading.
Deposits and withdrawals
Funding options vary by country. Commonly listed methods include:
- Visa and Mastercard cards
- International and local bank transfers
- Skrill, Neteller, AstroPay, SticPay and Perfect Money
RoboForex says it absorbs most deposit fees, though at least one source notes a small fee on Perfect Money deposits. Withdrawals normally return to the original funding method.
Who it suits
RoboForex fits cost-conscious traders outside Europe, the US and other restricted regions who want a cent account for experiments or low-commission Prime pricing. It also suits traders who want stock CFDs and forex under one login. It is less suitable if strong regulatory protection is a priority, if you live in a restricted country, or if you rely on very fast execution for scalping.
Verdict
RoboForex combines a $10 entry point, competitive raw-spread pricing, a broad stock catalogue and a mature copy-trading service. However, clients rely on an offshore Belize licence and a private compensation fund rather than top-tier oversight, and Ukraine's regulator has flagged the brand. Read the client agreement, confirm the entity named in your documents, and test a small withdrawal before committing larger sums.
